Here`s Robert Altman`s satiric view of American marriage. Jill Clayburgh and Robert De Niro made their first screen appearances in this story of a nervous groom trying to deal with his bride`s nosy family. Brian De Palma takes an offbeat look at wedding rituals. Jane Powell, Peter Lawford and Keenan Wynn costar in this upbeat musical, which marked Stanley Donen`s first solo flight as a director. Fred Astaire dances on the ceiling, caught up in the fun and excitement as London prepares for the wedding of Charles and Andrew`s parents. And as the weight of the world continues to fall upon poor George`s shoulders, tempting him to end his own life, it`s the love of Mary and his children that ultimately saves him.
